Audi Buys Italian motorcycle manufacture Ducati

Audi a branch of Volkswagen has bought the legendary Italian motorcycle manufacture Ducati, for or an undisclosed amount.  The Wall Street Journal believes the Audi buys Ducati firm purchase price amounts to $1.1 billion.

Ducati produces approximately 40 000 bikes a year and with its rich racing history has won 13 World Superbike Championships.

This places Audi in a platform to compete against rivalry BMW in superbike competition and  makes the third Italian company under the Volkswagon umbrella alongside Lamborghini and Italdesign-Giugiaro.

The recent growth in Ducati revenue and sales in new markets such has Brazil and India alongside with the opening of a plant in Thailand make Ducati a sensible purchase for Audi.  Add to this Ducati’s research and expertise in lightness and control with power, might possibly make the purchase a bargain.
