Scott Redding, who was 15 when he first stepped into the MotoGP™ paddock to compete in the 2008 125cc World Championship, stated that Yamaha presently has the most consistent bike on the World Superbike grid.

Redding, a household name in the motorcycle racing scene, is currently racing in the World Superbike paddock in 2021 for the Aruba Ducati team. The British rider is 51 points behind series leader Jonathan Rea and has been critical of the Ducati Panigale V4 R’s fluctuating form this season.

Redding believes Yamaha is now the benchmark for consistency. “That’s the strong point of the Yamaha at the moment,” said Redding. “They are not just consistent with Toprak, but all three bikes [Razgatlioglu, Locatelli and Gerloff] are always there. It’s kind of hard because obviously, something is working and making it easier for them.

Yamaha rider Razgatlioglu has proved a much more consistent threat at the front of the field in his second year as a Yamaha rider, having surpassed his 2020 tally of three wins with his fourth and fifth victories of the year at Most.

The Turkish rider told Motorsport.com that the improvements made to the bike and the choice for a soft rear tire (Pirelli SCX ) have been vital.

“This year, I’ve used the SCX in every race, but last year I used the (Harder) SC0 many times. I think [knowledge of] the tires is a good improvement for Yamaha,” said Razgatlioglu.
