Sunday at Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana, the final Grand Prix race of the 2021 MotoGP season held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste, Spain, Ducati secured its first podium lockout.

To the delight of all Ducatisti, three Desmosedici GP bikes rolled into the winner’s ring, with second place going to Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing Team), right behind race winner Pecco Bagnaiaand with Jack Miller finishing third. Both riding for the Ducati Lenovo Team, providing the team with the 2021 MotoGP Teams’ World Title. It is the second title for the Italian team since its first one in 2007.

First Historic Podium Lockout

It’s the first time a trio of Ducatis finished with podium places, an outstanding achievement for the celebrated Italian bike brand.

This historic achievement, never before attained in the premier class, follows a week after the Borgo Panigale manufacturer was crowned 2021 MotoGP Constructors’ World Champion in Portimão, Portugal.

“Today’s result is an important milestone for us, and this is a historic day for Ducati. To have three of our bikes on the podium is a dream, especially because it was a race with very close gaps,” said Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna.

According to Jack Miller, the podium sweep gives the race team an added boost of confidence heading into the 2022 MotoGP season.

“… it’s great to be part of this significant achievement. I’m sure our bikes will be even better next year, so I’m looking forward to the 2022 season and trying to fight for the riders’ title,” said Miller.
